a bit of stress

Am supposed to be leaving for Florida tomorrow evening, but still not really sure how I'm getting down there. The whole hassle of not having a car has been the most annoying and stressful part of this week. Most of the time I'm fine without a car, but this week it has been driving me crazy. It would have made our lives so much easier.

Other than that, I am having a great time with the family. My older bro and his wife and baby arrived last night and we've had a good day so far of relaxing and hanging out around Valparaiso. It's gorgeous outside, and we're having fun with the kids. We all miss John though - I wish he could have been here.

I don't really have any deep or insightful thoughts for right now, I'm just kinda a bit stressed out really. But, here is a bonus for all, a great pic of my dear niece Emma and I!

my best friend john

John and I at graduation...

I haven't seen John since yesterday evening, at about a quarter to six. Man, I miss that boy. He's just the coolest guy ever, and I'm so lucky to be able to hang out with him all the time. It's so fun hanging out with him. Yeah, sometimes he frustrates the wazoo out of me, but I love him to bits too.

upland no more...

After five days of making plan after plan after plan and packing like mad folks, I am in Valparaiso, IN, and John is in Upland. We decided to part ways for a few days. I will be up here visiting my younger bro and fam, while John helps take all our stuff back to Urbana. I feel like I definitely gave him the shorter end of the stick, but he said again and again that I should go.

So, here I am.

And now all we have to plan to do is get down to Florida in 4 days time. And oh, joy! Our tickets just almost tripled in price.

graduated, now packing...

My dear boyfriend, John, graduated on Saturday and it was really cool to see him walk down and be officially honoured for all his hard work in the last four years. And man, has he worked hard, has he worked his cute little butt off. Yes, he received the Bachelor of Science for Physics Engineering, one of the hardest degrees his university has to offer. And he completed it! Well, almost - he still has two classes this summer, but they're both just Gen Ed's that he needs to finish up.

Anyway, I felt very proud of him and became quite emotional.

We've now been spending the last few days getting his room-mate packed out of their apartment and off and out and we've started on our things now. We'd like to be out of here by tomorrow but we still need to make a plan as to how we'd get out of here. It will be nice to be away - actually it's already just been nice for John to not have as much going on right now. Really, really nice, in fact.

I just started my period, so I'm going to go play some PS2 while I wait for the lovely drugs to kick in and take away the horrible cramps. Yeah for drugs!

more cultura americano

Just found out graduation presents are expected too! See, I asked John to fill me in on the graduation thing last night, but he did not tell me about the whole gift thing. But, he's pretty cool about all that, so I know he's not expecting anything probably. Well, not from me, but maybe from his grandparents!!

We went shopping this afternoon - too much fun. I got some fun loverrllly clothes for Hawaii - cute capri's, cute skirt, cute pink t-shirt - I'm really getting a bit girly now! Lotsa fun...

figuring out american culture

Am trying to figure out the whole graduation thing. You see, I never went to university, and in England, you don't graduate "high" school, you just finish and go home. Actually, no that's a lie, we had an assembly.

I just found out it's kinda expected to get dressed up for graduation. My room-mate even went shopping for a dress this weekend. Dang, that's pretty dressy-up. Will have to talk to John about this and figure it out! Even though there are not that many differences between American and English culture, there are enough that I need John to fill me in on some things sometimes! I guess graduation is a big deal...

Just watched the season finale of Grey's Anatomy - bad Meredith and Derek. Not good at all. Kinda makes me mad that they ended the season that way. He had done so well working things out with his wife. I feel like they ended the season with them getting together just because that's what the public wants, even though it is so not right. Anyhoo, I like that show.

another day, another blog

Am kinda liking the look of blogspot, so decided to add it to my list of bloggers online. I think it's just a bit stylish really, and cool-looking.

Am enjoying a quiet Sunday of tidying up, packing my winter clothes, watching Season 1 of House, and watching the rain just keep coming down. John graduates in just a few days and soon we're going to Hawaii. It hasn't quite hit me yet, but I think it's going to be a really good summer. I think I'm ready for a really good summer, or just a really good few months.

John and I had a good chat last night in the car on the way back from my bro and sis-in-law. It was good to just get things out in the air, and hear where the other person is at. It's so easy to over-analyse and get caught up in complete rubbish. We are really seeing the need of communication being the key to life in our relationship.

Well, it's time to get this blog going!
