Seattle fun-ness

John and I have been having a blast out here in Washington. First of all, the wedding was amazing and so beautiful. We felt incredibly privileged to be there to see our dear friends get married, as well as see some old friends we hadn't seen for a while. Sadly, we forgot our camera the day of the wedding, and had to resort to our camera phones (but we'll be getting copies of our friends pix soon!).

We headed up yesterday to Seattle where we spent the day with fun friends Jonathan & Sarah Hamilton. It was also my birthday! We headed down town, wandered around Pikes Place, went to the first Starbucks, took pix outside the Space Needle, rode on the Monorail, and did fun shopping! We ended the day at a very very yummy conveyor-belt Sushi place (where I pigged out on my new favourite sushi fish - unagi (eel)).

We then got picked up by John's cousin Erik, and went back to his to crash for the night. Today, we headed in again to town, going to the Science-Fiction museum and the Experience Music Museum which was very fun! We stopped in town again where John bought me some lovely boots for my birthday. We just got back and are about to enjoy some yummy pizza. All in all, a very fun birthday, especially since I found out (thanks to Bekah's e-card giving it away!) that I'm getting an iPod Touch for my birthday! Sadly, we found out that they are all sold out in the three Apple stores that are here, as well as the two Best Buy's that are near Erik's apartment. So, we'll probably get it in Colorado!

the hunt for a new job

I traipsed up to the Mall today to hand in a bunch of applications. Actually I didn't traipse really, as I was on my bike, but I like the word. I hope I get a job there as it is so close to our apartment, and I think it could be fun. I'm planning to start as a lowly sales assistant on a measly $8 an hour, but I think with my retail experience, hard work and initiative, I can quickly get promoted to assistant manager. The only thing is that I really can't work weekends and nights as that's the only hubby time I get. As well as the fact that John and I purchased season passes to Copper Mountain & Winter Park, so I really really can't work weekends. Hopefully they will still want to hire me! Exciting stuff.

It was weird realising the other day that I haven't gotten a job or worked in a long time. My last regular paying job was at the deli back in May 2002. It's kind of exciting to think about getting a new job though. I think it will be fun, hopefully!

Anyway, here are the places to which I applied:

I'd love to work at Gap or Express that way John can partake of the store discount, but I also think that Victoria's Secret & Starbucks would be really cool places to work too!

work permit arriving...

A few weeks ago, I signed up to get immediate updates from the USCIS (United States Citizen & Immigration Services) whenever anything happened on my Green Card. Tonight, I got my first email from them telling me that my work permit application was accepted and that they were making my card and I should expect it in the mail in the next 30 days. Yeah!!!! I can finally get a job, the long waiting of nothing-ness is over!

Six words:
