loving freecycle...

While we were in England, visiting friends after the wedding, we heard about freecycle, a Yahoo group where people give away their old stuff for free. John and I eagerly signed up, needing many things still for our apartment. Last weekend was our most productive weekend so far, picking up an oven, a fridge-freezer (see pic below), a futon, two computer monitors and a scanner. This is the best website ever! God has been totally blessing us with His provision since we got married, and He continues through this wonderful website!

And yes, we painted last week! Fun pix here too!

  1. lovely bedroom! That color is beautiful! But maybe not so much the bathroom:) I have heard that you can get samples and paint them on a large piece of paper or wood and put them in the room and then look at them at different times during the day to see how the light hits them. Like our living room is mostly terra cotta, which I can live with, but at this one time of day it is just downright ORANGE and I can't stand it! Wish the people before us had looked at it a little longer. So what colors are you thinking of for this next room?
You guys have got incredible things from freecycle. I looked it up thinking, hurray free stuff! The freecycle in our area seems to suck, unless you want really old pillows and ancient pillowcases, or doll furniture. But your pictures inspired me and I will keep looking to see if anything good comes up! So glad you guys are raking in the good stuff!

  2. We love freecycle, to! We heard about it when we moved here, and with 5 colleges in the area, there is plenty! We just don't want to get too much stuff :) I'm all about minimalization! The other one we love is Craig's List. They have stuff for sale and stuff for free, jobs, apartments, etc. We got a GREAT futon from there!
Glad you guys are having fun!
