blood, outreach (?), and ahhh, the beach

My poor baby, John, is sick. We took him to the doctor yesterday, he had multiple amounts of blood pulled from his body this morning (6 vials) and next week, we find out the test results. He has been sick on and off for three months, and finally, on Tuesday, I had had enough and we figured out a way to get him to the doctor. Please pray that they find what it is.

We are now re-praying through a lot of things, particularly about whether or not to go on outreach, and what to do if we don't go. We are starting to realise that it might not be the best idea for him to go if he's still recovering from whatever this sickness is. So, we are trying to figure that out.

Other than that, we had a glorious day at the beach last Saturday with some of our dear students. We went snorkelling (v. cool fish), sunbathed, climbed some lava rocks, swam under under-water caves, and just generally toasted & bathed in the sunshine! We finished the day by crowding round a TV outside to watch The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. The perfect end to a really good day.

  1. v. great post with slight reference to bridget jones! long live the exploits of crazy girls in manner of sophisticated women! ;) i'm so sorry to hear john has still been sick such a long time!! i hope they find out what it is!! sometimes i feel like i have shorter stamina since having mono, it is extremely frustrating. and this summer i made david get a shot for his poison ivy to finally fix that problem, good to take care of our boys. :) your picts of hawaii are beauuutiful! did you notice i stole your idea of using more picts in your post? i love that idea. happiness. at taylor...margaret and alison and i went skinny dipping in taylor lake!! ahh! it was hilarious and great. and then we climbed to the top of the student union. i should probably not post this online! anyhow. take care, keep us updated on how john is doing too and what you decide about outreach. i have found the perfect dts at brisbane, frontiers dts focused on indigenous peoples, church planting etc, and am very excited!

  2. Eeep, that does not sound like fun. I am so sad that he is still sick. I'm really glad that you guys got him to a doctor. Did he tell you about the SST where he was so sick he was laying on the sidewalk in the HOT Texas sun in the middle of the day trying to warm up because he was so cold. He was seriously ill. My parents just happened to arrive that afternoon and took him to a Dr and I don't remember what it was but part of it was that there was some type of something that was alive and growing in his ear. Not cool!!! So I hope that whatever this is it is easy to take care of. We will be praying...keep us posted.
We will be praying for guidance in other areas too, like outreach or something else...but super nice that you get to go to the beach and chill on Saturdays!
